Church Wedding Reflections and Blessings

From “Friendship”

Two sturdy oaks I mean, which side by side,
Withstand the winter’s storm,
And spite of wind and tide
Grow up the meadows pride,
For both are strong.

Above they barely touch, but undermined
Down to their deepest source,
Admiring you shall find
Their roots are intertwined

Communion reflection

Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? How do i love thee ? let me count the ways I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight. For the ends of being and Ideal Grace.  I love thee to the level of everyday’s , Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.  I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.  I love the with the passion put to use In my old griefs and with my childhood’s faith.  I love thee with a love I seemed to lose With my lost Saints, – I love thee with the breath, Smiles, Tears of all my life! – And if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death.

Scaffolding by Seamus Heaney

Masons, when they start upon a building,

Are careful to test out the scaffolding;

Make sure that planks won’t slip at busy points,

Secure all ladders, tighten bolted joints.

And yet all this comes down when the job’s done

Showing off walls of sure and solid stone.

So if, my dear, there sometimes seem to be

Old bridges breaking between you and me

Never fear.  We may let the scaffolds fall,

Confident that we have built our wall.

Rest with Me :

“You don’t have to be perfect to belong in this place.
You don’t have to have all the answers,
Or always know the right thing to say.
You can climb the highest mountain if you want…
Or quietly imagine that you might some day.
You can take chances or take safety nets;
Make miracles or make mistakes.
You don’t have to be composed at all hours to be strong here.
You don’t have to be bold or certain to be brave.
You don’t have to have all the answers here,
Or even know who you want to be.
Just take my hand, and rest your heart….
And stay forever with me”.

A wedding blessing

Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there will be no loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons, but there are three lives before you:
His life, her life and your life together.
Go now to your dwelling place to enter into the days of your life together.
May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead and through all the years.
May happiness be your companion to the lace where the river meets the sun, and may your days together be happy and long upon the earth.

On Your Wedding Day

Today is the day you will always remember
The greatest in anyone’s life
You’ll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as husband and wife.
It’s a brand new beginning, the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there’ll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure.
You’ll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken.
So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It’s the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper “I do”.
And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real.
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong
And full of love for you, that are the holding yours on your wedding day
As you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.

These are the hands that will work alongside yours
As together you build your future.

These are the hands that will passionately love you and
Cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch
Will comfort you like no other.

These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief
Temporarily comes your way.

These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears
From your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy.

These are the hands that will give you support and
Encouragement to chase down your dreams.

These are the hands that will hold you tight
as you struggle through difficult times.

These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.

These are the hands that will lift your chin and brush your cheek
As they raise your face to look into eyes that are filled with
Overwhelming love for you.

These are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged
Will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same
Unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

Little prayers or expressions that can go in front or back of booklet:

“We are not meant to go through life alone.
We need a friend who will forever remain by our side.
Someone to lean on at times, remembering, as well,
We will be leaned on too…”

“When There are lines upon my face from a lifetime of smiles, when the time comes to embrace for one last while, we can laugh about how times really flies, we won’t say goodbye, cause true love never dies.”

“To Love and be loved is the greatest joy on earth…”

I cannot promise you a life of sunshine
I cannot promise riches wealth or gold
I cannot promise you an easy pathway
That leads away from change or growing old.

But I can promise you my hearts devotion
A mile to chase away all your tears
A love that’s ever true and ever growing
A hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.

Yes, I will marry you!

Which enter different phrases of your life

And to always appreciate each other
